The scenic Sierra Nevada Mountains surrounding beautiful Lake Tahoe provides some of the most spectacular flying in the USA. From leisurely soaring to aggressive cross-country flights, the area has it all. Located 30 miles south of Reno, Carson City is the starting point with a dozen sites up to 3,000 feet (vertical) within one hour's drive. Ridge soaring, thermaling, and even wave soaring take pilots up to 17,999 feet. Training facilities are available for pilots to practice their skills from a variety of altitudes and locations. Instruction including tandem is available, along with ratings and special skills for those wanting to improve their skills. Various activities including visits to Lake Tahoe, for skiing, boating, and even gambling provide for those wishing to take a break from the air sports. Also, historic Virginia City is nearby with a wealth of Old West memorabilia. Accommodations are available in Carson City, Reno, or Lake Tahoe with rental cars also available.

hang gliding or paragliding pilots with a USHPA rating $50 / day with your own equipment (groups of 3 or more) $75 / day with your own equipment $100-125 / day with our equipment depending on your needs. |
