The original instant messenger is ICQ. It allows you to
instantly send a message to another ICQ user and have a real-time text chat
over the internet. It also allows you to transfer files of any time from one
user directly to another user. Yahoo also has an instant chat program called Yahoo Messenger. It is similar to ICQ in that you can chat as well as share files and even voice.
