6/03/06...With the growing size of images that people are trying to
email to friends and family, it's becoming harder and harder on email.
(Especially for dialup customers) So today we have added a new section in our Recommended Software Page that will give users a couple options both for sending files and images, but also to make communication between everyone a little quicker and easier. Instant Messaging and Picture Sharing Software 6/01/06...DSL is now available for Hawthorne residents. Give us a call for details. 6/01/06...It's that time of year again for our yearly reminder that thunderstorm season is upon us. It is important that you have your computer and components plugged into at the least a surge suppressor. A battery backup unit is preferred. Electrical components can be literally fried by a close lightning strike and can be damaged by power surges and spikes associated with lightning storms and even simple power outages. Make sure you protect your equipment. It looks like DSL will soon be available for Crystal Bay, Battle Mountain and Moundhouse residents. Battle Mountain should be coming online around 5/15/06 while Crystal Bay is scheduled for late this summer with Moundhouse this fall. Give Bob a call at 884-3202 to be put on the waiting list for DSL in these 2 areas. 1/06/06...Windows has released a new patch to combat a security flaw that effects ALL windows operating systems (2003,XP, 2000, ME, 98, 95). It is highly recommended that all customers make sure to run updates on their system via the MS Update Icon in their start button menu. 1/06/06...A new round of virus laden spam is making it's way around the world again. We cannot stress the importance that customers have an up to date anti-virus program installed and running on their computers and also avoid opening any email attachments that they don't know are coming in from reliable sources. 9/20/05...We will be upgrading our Minden dialup server Wednesday morning (9/21/05) to a V.92 compliant unit to help increase speeds for that region. If you are using a V.92 modem in your computer, you should notice an increase in speed for websites. 9/16/05...We are in testing now of the new dialup acceleration system. We are looking for 100 volunteers to help test it. Email support@pyramid.net if you are interested. The first round of testing has shown a good increase in website loading but we need more people on the system.
8/12/05.....We are testing a new dialup
acceleration system now. We are looking for 10-15 volunteers to help test it.
Email support@pyramid.net if you are
interested 8/10/05.....As technology changes, websites become bigger with more flash and glitz. Our dialup customers are faced with the ever increasing problem of websites taking longer and longer to open. With that understanding, we are in the process of researching Web Accelerators. These programs will compress images and text of websites which will help increase the speed at which they will open. Keep checking here for more information as we work to find the best program for our customers. These programs have been around for a few years, but the performance was poor. With new developments, the performance and reliability has finally reached a level that would benefit our customers. Pyramid will be looking for a few testers to help us select the best program so contact the office if you would be interested. 8/05/05....Wireless services expanding...We have started installing our new 900mhz wireless systems. These units allow for greater range and better signal strength. Wireless is now available for the majority of the Washoe Valley residents and Lakeview Subdivision in Northeast Carson City. Contact Bob for details, pricing and availability. 8/05/05......Remember folks. Summer is lightning season. Make sure you have your computer and components plugged into a surge suppressor.
8/05/05.....There are FAKE
emails going around to our customers that claim to be from our office that have an
attachment in them. The emails say that your email/account has been restricted/suspended and you need to
open the attachment to address this problem or the attachment has important info
about your account. These contain a virus
that has been sent to just about everyone on the internet today. DO NOT open the
attachment. Pyramid
does not email attachments to it's customers and if there is
a problem with an account, we will request that you call the office for details
or call you directly. |
